Sustainability Report

For us, Sustainability Reports are a way of telling our story and illustrate the projects we are working on and our key achievements, creating value for our stakeholders, the environment and local communities.

GOVERNANCE - Our Plan for Sustainable Development

Rovagnati's journey toward sustainability began in 2017 with the launch of Rovagnati Responsible Quality, a program whose core values of Tasty, Healthy and Fair place quality, people and the environment at the centre of our efforts.

This necessary first step led to the identification of a dedicated corporate function and an interfunctional ESG Team, established with the goal of leading the company down this path and promoting an ever more sustainable approach to development.

Once the basis of our ESG strategy was in place, we identified the relevant themes through which our company could contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

THE ENVIRONMENT - Plant management and a responsible supply chain

We invest in improving the energy efficiency of our production facilities through dedicated solutions such as combined heat and power (CHP) and the installation of solar panels. We are committed to the management of waste and obsolete materials, with a particular focus on the management of sludge resulting from wastewater treatment processes at our plants.

With a view to monitoring our supply chain, we have signed an agreement with Sedex, one of the leading global platforms for managing ethical and responsible performance within the supply chain. As regards Innopackaging, the trays used in the Gran Biscotto, Snello and I Firmati ranges currently contain 65% recycled plastic.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY - The well-being of our people, our consumers, and our communities

We support local communities by donating our surplus stock to local charities. We value our people through a corporate welfare scheme offering services tailored to their needs. We nurture talent by collaborating with universities and scientific institutions to jointly develop meaningful projects.

We promote food safety through a rigorous control system that works in synergy with our in-house RovaLab laboratory, which is Accredia-certified (accreditation number: 00933). Since 2017, we have been investing in the production of nitrite-free cured meats.Through a production process that guarantees the same safety standards as those containing nitrites, we harness the synergy between selected natural extracts to activate their preservative effect.
